Fiber Splicing

The process of fusion splicing involves using localized heat to melt or fuse the ends of two optical fibers together. PC Telcom has the advanced equipment and expertise for splicing on any project; LAN and WAN / Broadband / Wind farms / Government buildings / Cell towers / HFC, FTTH, FTTP and FTTC / 24-7 emergency fiber restoration / Smart Grid infrastructure / Troubleshooting and documentation.

Count on our optical fiber experts to manage environmental factors such as moisture, wind, dust and dirt, ensuring every span meets your specifications. We utilize OTDR for testing spans.

Aerial Construction

We can pull new conduit from source to new locations, hanging new strand as needed; de-lash and replace or run new cables on existing strand. Lash and ground all new services. Drilling telephone/power poles and installing new hardware for hanging strand and fiber optic cable and/or coax services. Lashing cables to strand.

Ethernet

We can run new lengths of Cat5e or Cat6 and terminate. Run new lengths of phone line and terminate.

Underground Services Underground Services

The following are just a sampling of the type of underground boring and construction services we provide; and remember even if you just need to get something from one side of your driveway to the other we can do it. There is no job too big or too small for us.

Private Utility Locating / Potholing

Is a service for the locating of private utilities and other hidden assets that are not directly associated, installed, or controlled by electric, water, phone, or gas utility companies. We will provide a private locating professional to map out your job site or property.

Directional Boring

Often referred to as “trenchless technology” utilizes special machines that install underground conduit with virtually no impact to the surface area, disruption to traffic flow, landscaping or structures. Conduit size typically ranges from 1 inch poly or PVC to 4 inches, maximum 300 foot bore. Larger diameter boring, rock boring or sleeving projects require larger equipment and are more involved to complete. Directional Boring offers the best option for high traffic or sensitive areas without causing disruption to traffic flow, landscaping or structures. Once the crews cleanup it will look like they were never there. Best utilized in residential and commercial zones.

When business and residential customers need to extend existing utilities, water, or install conduits through heavily congested areas, directional boring (also referred to as, boring, directional drilling, horizontal directional drilling, HDD) allows underground connections to be repaired or established without compromising historic landmarks, disrupting vehicle and pedestrian traffic or damaging the environment; all while requiring virtually no post installation restoration.

Trenching

Trenching units vary in size and utilize a boom on the back that has cutting blades designed for specific soil or rock conditions. The trench travels along churning up the earth and creating a trench. Depending on what is being buried the trencher will create an open slit in the earth about 6 inches in width and a depth ranging from 24″ to 60″ depth. The crew will then “place” the cable or pipe and back filled the trench. This method of burial is best utilized in more rural areas such as along roads, through fields, and in new construction zones.

Vibratory Plow

Plowing units utilize a large vibratory plow that can pull and feed cable and/or conduit into the earth at depths of 24″ to 42″. The size and power of these machines makes it ideal for long runs of direct bury, where it can easily plow through soil, sand, clay and rocky conditions. This method of burial is best utilized in more rural areas such as along roads and open fields where underground utilities are not problematic.

Hydro Vacuum Excavation

Is a technology that uses water pressure to break up soil and debris so that it can be safely extracted by vacuum. This technology significantly reduces the risk of damage or injury while exposing buried utilities. Vacuum excavation is efficient and works very well in urban environments (by) mitigating risk of injury, damage and costly restoration.
